Evolution of the amelogenin Paris, France gene in toothed and toothless vertebrates

چکیده
Amelogenin proteins constitute the major organic contents in forming enamel, but some previously published data indicate that the amelogenin gene could be present in several species lacking teeth or functional enamel. Therefore, amelogenin could have another, still unknown, function other than contributing to enamel formation. In order to test this hypothesis, the presence of this gene has been searched for in various vertebrates. We first compared the mammalian amelogenin sequences available in the literature to obtain the best chance of a successful detection of this gene in phylogenetically distant species. Marc Girondot, Université Paris 7, Unité de Using this analysis, we have shown that the occurrence of the amelogenin gene Recherche Associèe: Evolution et Adaptations des Systèmes in the Y chromosome of primates and of an artiodactyl species is probably due Ostèomusculaires (Case 7077), 2 place to two independent duplications from genes on the X chromosome. Evidence of Il2 and Il6 Genes in the Crinoïd: Antedon bifida (Echinodermata)
This report shows for the first time, the evidence of IL6 gene in an Echinodermata, so in an Invertebrate. It recalls also the existence of IL2 gene, we have found also in the Ophuirid: Ophiocomina nigra, the sister of the Asterid: Asterias rubens. All these animals belong to Echinodermata.
متن کاملIdentification of a Novel Splicing Form of Amelogenin Gene in a Reptile, Ctenosaura similis
Amelogenin, the major enamel matrix protein in tooth development, has been demonstrated to play a significant role in tooth enamel formation. Previous studies have identified the alternative splicing of amelogenin in many mammalian vertebrates as one mechanism for amelogenin heterogeneous expression in teeth. While amelogenin and its splicing forms in mammalian vertebrates have been cloned and ...
متن کاملAMELX and AMELY Structure and Application for Sex Determination of Iranian Maral deer (Cervus elaphus maral)
In order to have a good perspective of wild animals, it is necessary to determine their population and genetic structure. It provides an opportunity to decide on better conservation managements. In the wilderness, due to the escapable nature and sometimes not having the distinguishable bisexual appearance, sex identification could be difficult by observing animals. The X- and Y- chromosome link...
متن کاملPrenatal sex determination in suspicious cases of X-linked recessive diseases by the amelogenin gene
Objective(s):To determine the fetal discernment in suspected cases of sex linked recessive disease in the first trimester of pregnancy. Materials and Methods: After collection of 100 Chorionic Villi samples, the DNAs were extracted and baby gender was determined. Meanwhile, after increasing the sensitivity, the system was able to detect the sex of each cell which was obtained by biopsy. Resul...
